Job Fair attracting wide range of organisations

The Building Better Opportunities Getting Cumbria to Work (BBO GCtW) "Job Fair" which will take place on Wednesday 11 September at the Nan Tait Centre in Barrow from 10.30am - 12.30pm has already attracted a wide range of local organisations including employers. To date, 15 organisations have signed up to attend this event including Asda, Drop Zone, Inspira, PHX Training; Ageworks; Barrow Community Learning and Skills, Cumbria Teaching Agency, Furness College, Shared Lives and Oaklea Trust. In addition, Cumbria CVS and the five delivery partners - Cadas; Women's Community Matters; Imagine Independence; Right2Work and The Well Communities CIC - will also be in attendance to provide a range of information, advice and support to people visiting the event.

The aim of this Fair is to provide participants of the Getting Cumbria to Work project as well as people from the local communities - with a one-stop shop, where they can meet local employers, discuss employment opportunities, find out about work placements, learn more about volunteering and explore training and educational opportunities - all of which will help to move them closer to the labour market.

"We are really excited about this event" said Nat, Project Manager "It is the first event of its kind and we are looking forward to it being a great success. It will provide local people with the chance to find our more about a range support and information that will help to improve their current opportunities, especially in relation to employment. We hope that everyone will feel free to attend."

This project is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund as part of the Building Better Opportunities programme.
