Job Fair

As part of the BBO GCtW project, a Job Fair will take place on Wednesday 11 September 2019 from 10.30am – 12.30pm at the Nan Tait Centre, Abbey Road, Barrow.
The aim of this event is to provide people with the opportunity to learn more about "employment" opportunities in the south of the county – whether that be a work placement, a volunteering opportunity and/or an actual employment position – and to share experiences and learning. A range of employers and local organisations, including the delivery partners within the project – Cadas, Women's Community Matters, Imagine Independence, Right2Work and The Well CIC – will be in attendance, providing advice and information on the opportunities available.
Although the event is primarily aimed at current, future and past participants of the BBO GCtW project, anyone/everyone is welcome – so please feel free to come along, find out more about the project, meet the BBO GCtW team, meet local businesses and educational providers and see what opportunities are available locally. This will be the first event of this kind for the project and we hope that it will provide a positive experience for all.

Nat Wealleans-Turner, Project Manager, BBO GCtW said
"This exciting event provides local people with a fantastic opportunity to explore their potential and plan their next steps in their journey towards employment and/or training by accessing a diverse range of employers and training providers- we hope this is the first of many successful events!"

Getting Cumbria to Work: Barrow and South Lakeland (GCtW) is a Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project that serves the local authority areas of South Lakeland and Barrow. This programme is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) who are co-investing in local projects tackling the root causes of worklessness, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth. It is one of three projects in Cumbria being funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the National Lottery Community Fund and is led by Cumbria CVS.

BBO GCtW aims to support and work with individuals who are facing multiple and complex barriers to employment and who are furthest removed from the labour market. It will help them to move towards and into employment by supporting them to play a greater, more productive role in their communities, demonstrate increased skills and confidence and be much more likely to consider employment or volunteering as a viable prospect.
